You can colour my world…

By Silver Blue

By removing most of the colour from photos, you can change the mood and effect.

The neighbours have the right idea. As long as it’s not red wines. They give me migraines.

A welcoming snowflake.  Nice and perriwinkle.

Then, there’s where a bell SHOULD have gone…

Finally… my fascination with the red berry bushes continues. Very exciting in colour extraction, I might add!

Something about isolating a colour or two makes far more of an impact with a photo, I think.

Make it one for my baby…

By Silver Blue

…and one more for the road…

Two completely non-related photographs, but ones that I’m completely in love with.

First, the front “garden” decorations of the Dynamic Beth, who keeps my hair looking spiky and fresh.

As you can tell, Beth is very much into the nautical theme. Tasteful decorations of King Neptune and his two mermaid “nymphs”.  (The only thing missing his is trident, though the sculpture doesn’t appear to have place for one.)

Secondly, from the holiday party from work, a simple display of wine bottles:

A Merlot, White Zinfandel, Chardonnay, and Pinot Grigio. I don’t know much about wines (other than I can’t drink red, with the exception of one Merlot by Penfold’s, due to allergies which spawn massive migraines), but I find it strange that the Chardonnay is the only wine that is in a different shaped bottle. Oh wait. I can’t tell about the “punt” (the dip in the bottom of the bottle) of the merlot, but it appears to be nearly non-existent in the Pinot Grigio, though I guess maybe the condensation on the bottle might be hiding it?

Silver Blue, raising a glass to 2012. Regardless if the Mayans are correct, I’m going to make this a year to beat all years!

Playing Dress Up.

By Silver Blue

No, not the way you think.

I have a coworker that gives me a delightful bottle of wine every year for the holidays. Since she learned that I am unable to drink most reds (they cause massive migraines), she’s resorted to the whites and the blushes. She also makes sure they come in very cute wine covers. The female kimono on the left was one year, the male on the right (with hat and pony tail) was the next. (Have no fear, the wine is swapped out regularly!) The silk artwork between was a gift from a group of Chinese students, and the teacup in the middle? Well, of course, that’s for when I have to have a spot of tea (which is, invariably, almost every evening).

Just shows that things look different when they play dress up or are covered.

Silver Blue, who is so glad today is Friday that I could laugh manically. In fact, I have.

The Days of Wine and Roses…

By Silver Blue

…and you.

A couple of things that bring joy to my life.

My Waterford Wine Hocks and a good, sweet Sauternes wine…

(Sauternes, for me, is a treat, as it’s more than I’d normally pay for a bottle of wine. Above, a mere 1/2 bottle, ran me $31. A top of the line (98 point) full sized bottle can be more expensive than Dom Perignon, and run in the hundreds of dollars.)

Then of course, there are my roses. Even now, as the summer is coming to an end, their little engines are starting back up and I’ll get one more bloom (or possibly two) before the snow flies.

The magnolia tree is severely confused, too. It is on the third bloom cycle this year.

Silver Blue, who wishes to remind you to find beauty in the things of now, before they fade away to just a memory.

Things that make me happy…

By Silver Blue | 1 comment

….when I’m feeling less like my usual Silver Blue self.

There’s my wine bottle covers from a coworker, and silk artwork from China:

(I name all my computers. The plate the the middle was from “Blue Thunder”, two laptops ago.)

Then, there’s my stained glass Valknuts. Valkwhats you say?

Custom made by an artist in Florida. (The Valknut (or Warrior’s Knot, or Knot of the Fallen) is a Sacred Symbol to Odin, King of the Nordic Gods. This “Magical Knot” was self-carved into the breasts of wounded  Viking Warriors so their Souls would be carried, by the Valkyries, to Valhalla, the Heavenly Meeting Hall where the heroes would feast with their Gods forever. However, one would be mistaken to associate this symbol solely with the bloody Vikings. Norse legends harken back to a a long forgotten age where… “Life was considered the ‘battlefield’ of the Soul, and to triumphant one had to overcome the forces of darkness in one’s own life, allowing the spirit to shine…the triple triangles of Mind, Body, and Spirit leads the Higher Self to Victory over Darkness, bringing Resurrection and Rebirth.*)

Finally:

French Sauternes (a quite expensive dessert wine — the half bottle shown here can cost upwards of $100), and my Cobalt Waterford crystal wine hock.

Silver Blue, who is going back to bed, and going to shake this lethargy and malaise if it’s the last thing I do on this Earth!
