It’s been quite a while since I’ve actually updated the World Through My Eyes. Those who know me know know what I’ve been dealing with and going through. This is neither the time nor platform to go into details; just know that I’ve not given up on this site (nor on the sister site, Thewannabegourmet.com ). Look for new content soon!

Silver Blue: The skies the morning before Hurricane Matthew came through Hampton Roads left the skies ablaze with colour. Fortunately, other than an overabundance of rain, the City of Hampton was pretty much spared the damage left behind in other cities that Matthew visited.

Silver Blue: Cutting through the mountains of West Virginia, the road is long, and winding, but it always leads us home.

Silver Blue: From a retirement reception on December 2, 2016, the roast beef “slider” style sandwiches, surrounded with grape tomatoes, made for an aesthetically pleasing photo composition. Sail on, Dr. Leavitt!

Silver Blue: This ornament (hand painted) was given to me by my mother from her personal collection. I think a student may have given it to her; still, I love the way it looks as the lights shine through it.

….in that old silk hat they found….

Silver Blue: Back in the mid-1970s, my mom and I took “punch-out” Christmas decorations and embellished them with glitter. Two of them, Frosty and Mrs. Frosty, adorned our tree every year, and since 2014, have adorned my own tree. Special memories from special times. While the above photo also appears on Silver Blue Photography’s Facebook page, the one of Mrs. Frosty is an Eyes of Silver Blue exclusive.

Silver Blue: I remember this lighted cardboard Christmas tree being placed in the front window of our home in Charleston, SC, every year until we moved in 1980. Then, it was on my parent’s mantel, and then was passed on to me. The little cut out stars were, at one time covered from the inside with colored cellophane. The light, a simple night light bulb, illuminated the tree.
