As you know, if you’ve followed me (or read the archives), my logo is a series of concentric triangles bisected by a diagonal line, overlaid by a blue phoenix:

Well, my treat to myself was embroidered (monogrammed) camera straps. This way, my equipment is visibly mine, with my logo, and my name. Thanks to Jodie’s Camera Straps I’ve been able to make it a reality. On each end, by the camera, you will see:

Those who know me know that I have a penchant for reversing the colours in Silver and Blue. It’s a personal quirk of mine. Including two hats!

This was the first. Then, when I found a black hat, I had to reverse the knots.

This actually came a couple years after the white hat. Still, notice the Silver and Blue are reversed in colours.
It’s what makes me happy, and isn’t that what life’s about in the long run?

Staying with my post from Toronto in July 2001…the infamous “Blue Light” Weekend Countdown

I’ll be honest that it would be nice to have a number of these around … just to build morale!

This is the “Old” City Hall. I’d tell you about it, but I’ll let them do it:

Love the architecture. Love the history. Love the photographic opportunities.
The thing is, though, if I lived to be 100, and did nothing but shoot photos each and every day, I’d still not be able to capture all the memories I’d want to, to be able to tell the story of my life.
Of course, I’ll never look like this again, either.

How I loved those shoes. First pair I wore the soles off of in… a really long time.

Silver Blue, who says that more photos will be taken in 2012…. and my wish for you is best expressed through a song I’ve not heard in years… (from 1971)
“May a little bitty bit of sunshine come your way…
and a little bit of love and happiness everyday…
I wish you no goodbyes, but a new friend every morning…
clear blue skies, all the simple things in life that are good and true
that’s the world I wish for you…it’s the real thing…”

As you know, I’m a self proclaimed audiophile. I love music, of every type, every sort, every…everything. So, when I go to another area, away from where I live, I tend to want to seek out the music shops. One of the most famous that I’ve been to no longer exists. The facade does, because it’s historic, but the store is no more.
2001.
Toronto.
Sam, The Record Man. Yonge Street.

How I wish I’d been able to get a photo of it at night when those neon records would seem to “spin”. But, back in those days… I wasn’t thinking that places like this might not always be around.

…not just a song by Linda Eder, but a Church in Norfolk.
Rush hour, one night, about five years ago.
Lit up in splendour.

There’s something special about being about to grab a quick shot out of an open window while you’re waiting for the traffic to move. Just another example of how moments are “made” and not necessarily happen “by chance”.
“We never talked about forever….we were in love and through it all…our hearts would sing every time they’d ring…the ancient bells of St. Paul’s…”

…I’m still trying to write that love song, Kayleigh it’s more important to me now you’re gone…. maybe it will prove that we were right, or it’ll prove that I was wrong… (“Kayleigh,” Marillion)

Me and Kelly Ann Zechmeister, October 1988. (Kayleigh was my nickname for her, and she’s the only one allowed to call me Johnny.)
Yes, that was a Commodore 128. We’d met on QLink, the precursor to AOL.

That …

As the album says, “Life’s Just A Beautiful Mistake.” (Actually, it’s a line from a song by BT, “Forget Me”, that I included on this compilation).
This logo is showing up in many places. I have an apron displaying it now! (Photos… later.)
Friday, getting over the gunk that’s had me down, but not out, for far too long. Let the healing continue!

Whatever you do, wherever you go, never think that just because you don’t have the best camera with you that you can’t take pictures. These were taken with a Blackberry cell phone, and while they may not be able to be blown up to 11×14 size, the moments and emotions that were captures are moments that I’m glad I didn’t let pass me by just because “I don’t have a real camera with me.”

I’ve often said that the way to tell how much you love someone is not by what they help you become, but by WHO you ARE when you’re with them.

I don’t even recall where these were taken. It may have been in my parent’s yard, it may have been at work. But the colours brought me joy and happiness, and still do.

This was shot on a lazy, hot summer afternoon in my own backyard. While not what a southerner would want when asking for a “Mimosa”, it is, and the soft, wispy flowers are so delicate and pretty…until they start to fade. Then, they’re excessively unattractive.

Shot out of the kitchen window at my parents house, I probably could have manipulated contrast to make the sky more vivid or interesting — but, as is the case with all these photos, what you see is what was shot.

I love clouds. The way they shift shape, and are just, to me, so very serene.
Finally…

Wise words, from a coffee cup for sale at our local Newport News Fresh Market.
