Flashback…
By Silver Blue
….to a long, long time ago. Back when I first started blogging. On Moveable Type. Before WordPress. Fritz, of On The Fritz made these banners for me.
My tagline that I came to use for 5 years.
While I didn’t gossip, I liked the graphic.
Oh, the things your mother could warn you about! But would you listen? NO!
The 18 hour blog? LOL!
Though why one would have a barrel full of barbies is beyond me.
Even then, I was a HUGE Kylie Minogue fan!
Finally…the truest, cutest, and sky-bluest of them all:
Roxette Bunny™ – who at one time had her own blog as well, and seriously needs to get her bunny butt back over to RoxetteBunny.com and do some updating!
Silver Blue — who doesn’t long for days past, but enjoys time-tripping every so often. 🙂
Silver Blue, through the eyes of others.

I used to have an issue being in front of the camera, as I preferred to be behind the lens, due to my weight. What’s interesting is how other people perceive you. In 2002, I had a caricature done. Mind you, I know they’re supposed to exaggerate your appearances, but….
I am not fond of this one, though it is my dad’s favourite of the ones I’ve had done.
In 2011, I had two others done:
Biff, who drew this one, which really shows off how much weight I’d lost over the years, is my all time favourite. Then, I also had a pastel, which is supposed to be more “true to life” — but remember, these were all done at an amusement park, in the space of 15-20 minutes time. They’re not supposed to be “professional” quality, so I’m amazed at how close they actually come.
Danielle, who drew me through her eyes, managed to get my dimples and my eyes completely the way I see them. Not bad for less than 20 minutes!
Silver Blue – who sees the world through my eyes, but who also steps back and appreciates the way others see him through theirs.
A penchant for plush
By Silver Blue
Those who know me (or who used to follow the old blog) know that I have a great fondness for stuffed animals. I have had to declare a moratorium on acquiring them, however, lest I run out of room for myself.
This little fellow did all he could do to try to talk me into purchasing him and rescuing him from the retail realm:
Even with his intense cuteness, however, I had to resist the urge to add him to the menagerie I have at my house. The Siren Song they they seem to sing to me is very, VERY difficult to resist sometimes.
Eventually, I’ll introduce you those who did enter my life and have stayed around.
Silver Blue, wondering if the lil’ fellow found a good, loving home.
There is beauty all around us…

1…if we will just open our eyes and see.
How many times have you looked at something and not really seen it? I know I have, far too many times.
Dynamic angles, pattern, and stonework. The Freemason Street Baptist Church in Norfolk.
Across the street, MacArthur Center Mall:
…angled ceilings…
(and another view of them), along with…
…some awesome light fixtures. All things you’d never notice unless you took the time to stop and “look up.” Too often, we forget to do this, because we’re in such a rush to get everything done.
Finally, an external parking garage lends more angles to be enjoyed:
So…slow down, you move too fast…you’ve got to make the morning last…*

…as the song goes, “there’s got to be a morning after….if we can make it through the night…”
Sunset, from out the living room window at my parent’s house 3 years ago. Was there ever such a beautiful sight?
Moments such as these remind me how small and insignificant in the grand scheme of the universe I really am.

Eating “healthier” never tasted so good!
By Silver Blue
Those who know me know that I’ve taken to attempting to eat healthier in the past few years, including preparing most of my own food (when before I was a “eat out as often as possible” kind of guy). Trust me, I am no vegan nor a vegetarian (in fact, I’m quite the carnivore), but something like this goes miles to converting me:
Red lentil soup topped with dill and cayenne pepper, and a wrap with hummus, kale, and black bean and corn salad. To die for, from Pasha Mezze in Norfolk, VA.
Silver Blue, who will be dreaming of this soup for a LONG TIME to come. 🙂
Does it make you remember?

It’s amazing the things that can cause us to rocket back in time, to a timespace (Stevie Nicks used that word for her first greatest hits collection, and I find it to be very accurate) where our memories … well, they may not be as sharp as they used to be, but they still strum the chords of our herats.
Oh, how this does. From my room at my grandma’s house. The gold painted wallpaper. How something as simple as this makes me feel all of 5 years old again.
I actually wrote (when I was 13) my initials on the wallpaper in two different locations. Years later, I never could find the other.

You’ve been “tanked”

Local car dealership, Hampton Chevrolet, gets in on supporting the local “Relay for Life”. $50 donation for the removal of the pink toilet and matching flamingos.
Wonder if anyone’s ever taken one of these and attempted to install it in their home? Or what happens if you don’t donate your $50? (Eh? You didn’t see the “No Solicitation” sign? Too damn bad. Now GIT!)
Silver Blue who confirms, Pink does not go with blue.
A new vision…

…and a new computer. Awesome sound, video, memory…and I’ve been doing a lot of configuring with it, hence my lack of posts.
I leave you for the evening with your moment of Zen.
