Furby…..SCARY!

By Silver Blue

I used to think they were cute colourations,

Now, they sort of remind me of that Chucky doll.

The angels sigh…

By Silver Blue

…the little girl cried…

The tears run rings around my eyes.

There’s something about angels that make for good photos. Well, most of the time:

(This was back when I used to decorate the mantle at Christmastide.)

This was from filter manipulation. I have numerous filters that I never use. Perhaps I should look into doing more work with them.

Someone be a dear:

Go help that angel out. She seems to be stuck in a rose bush.

Here’s the mantle as it was decked out in 2004:

Finally:

My Angel Bear. She’s a tree topper, but tends to live her life without that discomfort these days. LOL.

(That’s Icee Bear and Snowflake Bear beside Angel Bear).

Interlude…

By Silver Blue

….a photo of Roxette Bunny™ and Forester Bear together, before Hurricane Isabel in 2003:

Roxette Bunny™ and Forester Bear on their way home from New Orleans (at the Cincinnati Airport):

At the food court.

Waiting for the plane to arrive….

Flying Delta to get back home.

You know it’s so good to be back home again.

But you know I can’t come with you…

By Silver Blue

….for I’ll always be scared of heights.

11 random photos of Toronto and Niagara Falls (Canadian) from 2001:

ScotiaBank. If you haven’t gathered, this post is about tall buildings and heights. I wish I could tell you what these other buildings are, but I just simply don’t know. 11 years has washed away a great deal of memory.

Loved the deco style construction on the top of this building.

The way these three buildings lined up … still makes me smile for some reason. It just, in my mind, works.

This is the “New City Hall”. I know what that tall building is. 🙂

This, therefore, is the “Old City Hall”. 🙂 I was surprised to see seagulls on the lawn!

Nothing like looking down into the Toronto Skydome stadium from way up in the CN tower!

Me, on the Canadian side of the Niagara Falls (the horseshoe falls).

Finally, me with Misty Bear, mascot of the Maidens of the Mist ships that go up to the falls.

“You lift me up into the sky, feels like I could fly, never gonna die,
And I almost made it, but not quite.
Now you’re flying out of sight, and you know I can’t come with you,
I’ll always be scared of heights.”

Silver Blue…who looks back in wonder…and smiles.

I saw…from the Cathedral…

While out and about today, I came across a CD I’d not heard in years. That set my mind to creating a show of photos. For those on devices that cannot display Flash, my apologies.

I’m on the top of the world…

By Silver Blue

or at least it seemed. July, 2001. Toronto, Ontario. The CN Tower. Dinner. Fabulous.

TALL!

Up, Up, UP! (Did I mention that I’m not too keen on heights?)

Still, dinner was faboo. I had longer hair.

…and I also had a diamond stud earring.

It was a time that was well worth the 62 minutes dinner took (as that was how long it took the restaurant to rotate. I may never pass that way again, but for that brief moment in time, I truly was …on top of the world.

I had to do a lot of post processing to this photo because the city is so bright behind me, I practically was enrobed in shadows. The Sheraton Centre is the second buildling over my right shoulder (look at the pole coming out of my shoulder — little dark grey square building, then the long, flat building beside it….) that was where I stayed my trip north of the border.

The Sheraton.

The years have stolen from me the name of this art deco-ish hotel, but I loved the shapes!

Service was great as well. I snapped a photo of the server, because I thought his eyes matched his vest. Now that I look back upon it, no so much. But he did give the true Canadian hospitality, and that made the moment memorable. I don’t even remember (no surprise) what his name was. I wasn’t as good at putting in captions and meta data as I am these days, and with digital photos, there’s no “back” to write on. LOL.

My morning is bound to appear.

By Silver Blue | 1 comment

Ocean View Beach, Norfolk, VA.

“If I can endure for this minute
whatever is happening to me
No matter how heavy my heart is
or how dark the moment might be…
If I can but keep on believing
what I know in my heart to be true,
That darkness will fade with the morning
and that this will pass away, too –
Then nothing can ever disturb me
or will me with uncertain fear,
For as sure as night brings the dawning,
my morning is bound to appear.”

As close to music as I’m ever going to come

By Silver Blue | 1 comment

Back in the late 1990s and early 2000s, I ran an Unofficial Fan Page to former Columbia Recording artist Jane Olivor (who performed the Academy Award nominated song “The Last Time I Felt Like This” with Johnny Mathis from the movie “Same Time, Next Year”.

I first met Ms. Olivor in 1999 at the Birchmere, in Alexandria VA, when she played there for Valentine’s Day. I gushed appreciation and had to sit down before I hyperventilated.

In 2001, I actually was able to have dinner with Ms. Olivor:

In 2002, I was offered the opportunity to become her Web Manager. It was a stunning ride on the merry-go-round, during which time I saw her in concert five or six more times.

The only other photo I have of us together is:

Well, things have a way of changing and we parted ways as “the record company wanted to take over her official page.” (That was the official “request’.) Such is life, and she’s never really had a website since.  Being that close to the machinations of the music industry, however, left the polish quite tarnished. I’ve never looked at “stars” with the same eye again. Fame simply doesn’t impress me. I’ve met my share of performers over the years, from Star Search winner Sam Harris, to Annie Lennox, to Basia, to Roxette … and to me, they’re all human. When they perform, they all have the ability to take my mind away from reality for a short while. But they all bleed red, they all have bills to pay, and they all put their pants on one leg at a time.

Silver Blue… who isn’t famous for any reason, and as no desire for fame and riches… yet if I know that if I make one person smile, one heart remember, one moment brighter, then I have more fame and riches than the biggest superstar there is.

A visit from Cat Man Deux

By Silver Blue

Cat Man Deux sits watching over Meditation Corner at the Shenandoah Forester. I encountered him in New Orleans in 2003, adopted him, and brought him home.

He was the closest that I could find to a Silver and Blue Harlequin.

Here he is in front of the “Living Proof Farewell Tour” programme:

He makes sure that nothing bothers me when I am deep in meditation. 🙂

Silver Blue, who sees lightning out the window and wants to get this posted before we possibly lose power and/or internet….
